Day 8 ~ Cedar City Utah to Williams, Arizona

Saturday ~ June 25, 2011

This day started out like none of the others. It's a beautiful day in Utah, so let's go to the ER. One of the passenger of the 2011 tour was a little queazy, OK really queazy. But they patched this passenger up and sent the whole group cruisin'.

We set out on the road at 10:35 am. We realize that we will be hitting the farthest point West and we will be headed back East on this day!

More mountains.......more strong winds.....

Winding curves.....more stronger winds...

Aaaahhhhh... made it to Nevada. Wonder if we will see Las Vegas?

Found these folks just traveling along with us... We liked their message!

There it is!!! Let's go make some money! Better yet let's not. Maybe on our next trip.

Look what's up ahead....blue water in the desert. Wait for it...

Wait for it......
Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam. We were on the new bridge that was just built.

And because we were, we couldn't see the Hoover Dam, just Lake Mead. That's pretty cool though.

I think one of the photographers on board thought this sign was pretty funny. I bet we can guess who did!

We finally made it to Williams, Arizona. This is a neat place. (A little trivia: This is the first city on the old Route 66 that was first closed. Sad.) But they figured things out just fine. It's a quaint town with good food and live music. We rode our bikes here for dinner in the dark after our train ride to the Grand Canyon and Village.

Very windy at the Grand Canyon. But this pirate is steady and true when it comes to flying the colors. Tomorrow the train ride......
